Workshops & Events for Young Women

In Jan 2004 the Long Island Fund for Women & Girls (LIFWG)
awarded a grant to [AA]2 to put on events and workshops for female
Asian American high school & college students & their mentors. The grant
was renewed for 2005. [AA]2 works with Asian interest groups at Stony Brook
University to make those happen and is expanding to other Long Island colleges.

REGISTRATION INFO

An Open Invitation to All Female Stony Brook University
Students, Faculty, and Staff Under the Age of 30

Due to the success of last year’s workshop, it is being
repeated, but the workshop will be limited to 50 SBU
female students of all races so the conversation
can be personal and comfortable.

This year the workshop will be videotaped for
distribution to local high schools and colleges as part of
a grant from the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls.

Last year the women watching the film The Way Home felt that too many participants were so much older it was like listening to their mothers. They decided
to make one of college students and young
faculty and staff that would be more
appropriate for their peers.

Those taking part must sign a release form allowing use
of their image and words in the video (for non-profit
purposes). Please bring photo ID to verify that the
person signing is who they say they are.
Anyone not signing will have to leave.

This workshop is only open to women. Next
semester there will be workshops to include men.

Once the 50 person limit is met, that will be it.

Advance registration will guarantee you a place and we strongly suggest it. We will also be trying to have equal representation from all races so we are actively recruiting to make sure that happens.

Please contact us as soon as possible with name,
contact phone or email, and ethnic origin.
